During the study period, there were a total of 8,880 crashes in a public right-of-way, which means about 27% of all crashes on public property occurred near schools in Tift County. 

The Commission noted that many schools were closed in March 2020 through the end of that school year due to COVID-19, leading to a significant reduction in traffic volume and fewer crashes.
